So as the Saints sit at 2 and 2 after the bye, I think of all the young players who are contributing to our squad. Players with 3 or less years experience are everywhere on the field and getting better every snap. Kikaha, PJ Williams, Davison and Peat have been very valuable third year players. Peat, who many said was a bust, may be the most valuable offensive lineman so far this year. Someone once said “Youth is wasted on the young” but I don’t see it that way. 2nd year players like Rankins, Onyemata, Bell, Crawley and Will Lutz are corps players on the Saints. Also, in his sophomore season, we have Mike Thomas one of the very best wide outs in the league.
Then we go to this years draft diamonds that, in my opinion, may prove the best draft since 2006. Anzalone, Hendrickson, Lattimore, Williams, Muhammad, and my co Saints ROY so far are Ramczyk and Kamara. Every one of these players has shown flashes or been major contributors to the New Orleans Saints this year. We are bottom 6 in average age of roster, but that number is altered because number 9 defies time. With inexperienced players it takes time to catch up with the NFL game, so these guys will only improve as the season goes. Either way this young group is good and ,barring injuries, will give us a chance at a playoff run.
