Good evening, Who Dat Nation. This is the first of what is going to be a weekly report covering all things in the NFC South. Everyone here is invested in what is going on with the Saints, but it’s also important to know what is going on week to week with the other teams fighting for the division title. I will stay short and to the point, filling you in on what each team did the week before, who and when they play in the coming week, then give any important details for each squad. If there is anything you guys would like me to add each week, I’m always open to feedback. Let’s get started.
New Orleans Saints (1-1 overall, 0-0 division)
-Last week: 27-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams
-This week: 3:25 pm/ct on Sunday at Seattle Seahawks (2-0)
-Notes: Teddy Bridgewater will make his first meaningful start for the Saints, as Drew Brees is set to miss 6-8 weeks with a thumb injury.
Atlanta Falcons (1-1 overall, 0-0 division)
-Last week: 24-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles
-This week: 12:00 pm/ct on Sunday at Indianapolis Colts (1-1)
-Notes: Despite the one loss, Atlanta has the #3 ranked defense through the first two weeks of the season. With Dirk Koetter back as Offensive Coordinator, the Falcons are hopeful to have their most complete team since their Super Bowl run a few years ago.
Carolina Panthers (0-2 overall, 0-1 division)
-Last week: 20-14 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
-This week: 3:05 pm/ct on Sunday at Arizona Cardinals (0-1-1)
-Notes: After looking less than 100% against Tampa Bay last Thursday, it was revealed this week that quarterback Cam Newton is battling a foot injury. He has missed practice all week, which leaves Kyle Allen, an undrafted free agent in 2018, set to make his second career start, if needed.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1 overall, 1-0 division)
-Last week: 20-14 win over the Carolina Panthers
-This week: 3:05 pm/ct on Sunday vs New York Giants (0-2)
-Notes: Head Coach Bruce Arians is hoping to help Jameis Winston turn the corner and lead the offense, while Todd Bowles’ defense has looked impressive, so far. Fifth overall pick Devin White sprained his MCL in the first quarter of their Week 2 game and has yet to practice as he is day-to-day.
NFC South Standings
Tampa Bay 1-1
Atlanta 1-1
New Orleans 1-1
Carolina 0-2
