If you thought the diversity of Taysom Hill was enough; think again.
The Saints signed RB/WR/KR Ty Montgomery. He was actually drafted as a receiver out of Stanford, but the Packers found a place for him as a running back. That situation got derailed by injury and the emergence of other players while Ty was hurt. He also spent time with the Jets behind Leveon Bell after a short stint in Balitmore following a trade in 2018.
Coming to New Orleans is a great situation for where he can serve as an Alvin Kamara clone and backup, and possibly even claim his own role to take pressure off Kamara and Latavius Murray. With the creativity of this coaching staff, and the supporting cast of players, Ty could be a very a solid contributor wether running or receiving.
Could he be positioned back at slot receiver at some point? That would be interesting if so, since we still have questions at that position.
Either way, having a player that wear multiple hats helps the coaching staff on game day when you can only dress so 46 of your 53 players. Most teams value versatility, and the Saints are no different.
