So as the anticipation builds for a Saints playoff run we come to the final five games. Four of the last five are division games and three NFC South teams are at this moment playoff teams. The Saints are one of only four teams with a plus 100 points for points against ratio. So far in the dome home New Orleans is four and one with three of last five there. This has been a very entertaining year thus far with ebbs and flows, new players and older veterans coming back from an 0 -2 hole to start the season. Rookie standouts Kamara, Lattimore, Ramcyzk and more have made this draft class maybe the best Saints draft ever. Cam and Carolina come to the Crescent City Sunday. A guy once said “The Titanic gotta keep going” indeed Sir, maybe the Saints defense will be Cam’s iceberg.
New Orleans is second in offensive yards per game, fourth in offensive points per game. Defensively they are 12th in points per game 15th in yards. One of the most telling statistic is passer rating differential. Since 1940 95% of NFL/Super Bowl era champions are top 10 in this statistic, the Black and Gold are at 10 now. All I want for Christmas is an NFC home playoff game and hopefully we get that, but let’s face it a Wildcard playoff situation will be fine. With the Walsh – Montana similarities with Brees and Payton they always have a shot in the post season. If nothing else happens our guys have broken the 7-9 Groundhogs twilight zone. Cam Newton can get frustrated into mistakes but if he starts off strong could be a long day. Then you have the revenge factor and a division opponent that is good in all three phases. I see a close game with Ingram having a better game and Drew is always great at home. Saints win 30-27 with a Lutz kick late, and hopefully one step closer to a division title.
