Another week, another game with a lot on the line. The Saints are traveling to Tennessee to take on the Titans this Sunday. The storyline just keeps getting more intriguing every week. The Saints continue their hunt for a first round bye and possible first seed in the playoffs. The Titans, like the Colts last week, are fighting for their playoff lives. They have several scenarios that need to happen just to get a wild card. But like the Saints, they need to win out in general.
These two teams have a similar history as the last opponent. This time the Titans have the lead in the series at 8-5-1. The record was even at four games a piece when they were the Houston Oilers. Since the move to Tennessee, the Titans have the Saints number. They have won four of the last five games, including an overtime win in the last match-up. This time around, things have changed a lot for both teams.
The Saints offense is hot at the right time. They will need to continue their ways this game against a Titans defense who is in the middle of the pack stats wise. On the flip side, the Titans run their offense through Derrick Henry, who is playing through an injury. Also, AJ Brown is their main target in the passing game and Ryan Tannehill has rejuvenated his career. The Saints defense, however, have added Janoris Jenkins and DJ Swearinger (dreadlock powers) to improve their secondary due to injuries to the defensive line.
There are only two big keys for the Saints in this game. The first one is stopping Henry and Brown because outside of them there is not much else. The second key is to run the football effectively and control the clock given their may be rain at game time. If the Saints continue that same mindset as the last few weeks, they can run away with the game early. This is not the time to regress and they have to keep pushing. Who Dat!
