The Big Easy Train rolls on to another week and the second of back-to-back Thursday night games. This time they will be squaring off against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. The surprising factor is that this will be a game between division leaders as the Cowboys have strung together a three-game win streak to climb atop the NFC East. With this in mind, the media has potentially said that this could be the game that Dallas could somehow pull off the upset of the year. Kind of makes me laugh a bit but I will stay humble because anything is possible on any given Sunday, or in this case Thursday.
We all know what the Saints are capable of doing on offense. Last week, they had four different receivers catch a touchdown pass. To make it even more amazing, all four of those players were undrafted and probably 95 percent of the country do not even know their names. And get this, Drew Brees did not even have 200 passing yards. Mainly, the credit goes to a much improved defense who forced four turnovers and finished with six sacks against the Falcons last week. This Saints defense has become a force to be reckoned with, only giving up 12.7 points/game in their last three contests while forcing nine turnovers in that span as well.
This week, the run defense will be going up against the league’s leading rusher in Ezekiel Elliott. He is already over 1000 yards this year, averaging 4.9 yards/carry and close to a 100 yards/game. The challenge will be happily accepted for the league’s #1 rush defense after only allowing a whopping 26 yards on the ground last week. But it will be just as difficult on the other side of the ball as Dallas has the #4 rush defense allowing 93.6 yards/game. Not to mention, they are also in the top ten in total defense. Nonetheless, Sean Payton will be as aggressive as always leading one the top offenses in football.

On paper, the match-up looks to be pretty even at first glance. However, the Saints look to be the more complete team in all three phases. Dallas will come in and try to put the pressure on early, as stated by DeMarcus Lawrence in his NSFW comments this week. I, for one, would expect nothing less from a Cowboys team that is in the driver seat in getting to the playoffs. But also, I know how the Saints roll and if they get going early and often, you might as well rage quit. I am not saying they will dominate or if it will be a close game down to the wire.
