Saints vs Bucs became a fun blowout and a nice non stressful break after a dramatic win against the Bears in overtime. Though projected to be the game of the year and a Bucs win, the Saints traveled to Tampa Bay and embarrassed the Buccaneers.
This was the best game the Saints have had all year. Lets take a look at not 3, but 6 pro’s! From this weeks past game.
6 Pro’s from The Saints vs Bucs
Drew Brees
Everyone who doubted Drew Brees needs to apologize to that man right now.
Even if you were still a believer. Brees looked absolutely terrific finishing the night 26/32 for 222 yards, 4 TDs, and a passer rating of 135.2, 11 different players caught a ball from Brees.
Drew put the ball in some tight windows and looked just like his old self.
Michael Thomas
After everything that has gone on, from trade rumors to suspensions and injuries Michael Thomas is still a New Orleans Saint. Michael Thomas showed up for the Saints vs Bucs.
Michael Thomas tied the team in targets, receptions, and yards and made some impressive catches in the first game action he’s seen since week 1.
Terron Armstead & Ryan Ramczyk
This might be the best start Terron Armstead has had in his entire career. The veteran tackle held pretty much every Buccaneers defender in check Sunday night. Whether it was Jason Pierre Paul or Suh. As for Ramczyk.
I guess J.T. Barrett is waiting to show us his new pass rushing move next week, because he did not do anything Sunday night.
Marshon Lattimore
Look we know it was Mike Evans week. We know what that means for Mike Evans. We know what it week means for Marshon Lattimore.
Once again Lattimore played the role of lockdown corner back. He shut down Mike Evans.
In the last 3 games when Lattimore has covered Mike Evans one on one 2 targets zero yards, 2 targets zero yards, 2 targets zero yards.
Better luck next year.
Defensive line
From the first snap of the Saints vs Bucs game, Cam Jordan was able to force a bad throw, the tone was set.
The Saints front 4 looked absolutely stunning and pressure was real, and did not stop all night long.
Along with Jordan Marcus Davenport maybe had his best game of his career I know the sacks weren’t there, but he lived in Donavan Smith’s head and Brady’s backfield. David Omenyata had a nice interception after a Cam Jordan pass deflection, Trey Hendrickson had 3 back to back sacks ( 2 counted) he’s continuing his breakout season and is now 3rd in sacks only behind Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett.
Even Malcom Brown got in on the fun and sacked his former teammate.
The Jenkins Brothers
I just wanna make a great point that Al and Chris mentioned during the game, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen mentioned when it came to Malcom Jenkins.
They really didn’t know how to plug him in since the Eagles ran a different defense.
With the weird offseason and no preseason it made a lot of sense. Week in and week out I get more and more impressed with Malcom’s play. His ability to blitz, defend the run, and pass coverage is being showcased and I just get more and more impressed.
Janoris Jenkins covered Antonio Brown most of the night, and look he didn’t play for a long time but lets be real. Antonio Brown could easily route up half the DBs in the NFL and you and me.
To see Jenkins go toe for toe pretty much all night just makes me that much more confidence in this secondary as the season rolls on.
