Saints vs Bears Preview

This Sunday we are in for a treat as the New Orleans Saints will travel to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears in what should be a great game between 2 playoff caliber teams.

The Saints come into this game relatively healthy and hopeful to get star Michael Thomas back as he’s practiced the last 2 days, they will be without Emmanuel Sanders who came down with a case of COVID, as for the Bears 4 big names to keep an eye on. Eddie Jackson (knee), Khalil Mack (ankle), Allen Robinson II (concussion) are all questionable and center Cody Whitehair has already been ruled out with a calf injury.

The biggest key I believe for the Saints offensively is to be patient and play balanced football like they did against the panthers. Getting Kamara and Murray going early in the run game will be huge especially if Mack can’t go or will be on some kind of snap count.

Whether Michael Thomas plays or not I expect the Saints to come out early and try to get these receivers involved in the passing game and see just how good this Bears secondary really is. One player in particular I’m excited to see a guy who didn’t play last year against the Bears and should be in the MVP talk. That guy being Alvin Kamara, he’s been lights out all season long doing it all for the Saints he’s had back to back 8 catch games and had 83 yards rushing in 2 of the last 3 games and once he gets going it’s really hard to stop a guy like Alvin Kamara.

Defensively this Saints defense has got to play up to their talent potential, the bears offense has been very very inconsistent to say the least. They have had some bright moments, but nothing that makes me think it’s gonna be a shootout. If they can get pressure on Nick Foles and not give him time in the pocket it could be a long day for Foles and company. One big key is if the interior defensive line can take advantage of Whitehair being out so guys like David Omyenta and Sheldon Rankins could really step up and really make an impact in this game.

This will be a cold and windy game in Chi town and I expect the Saints to run the ball early and play some good defense, that said i’ll take the Saints 24-20.
