Today, NFL Communications distributed the training camp reporting dates for all 32 NFL teams. As per usual, the rookies report ahead of the vets and then padded practices begin soon after.
Saints Rookies Report: July 18, 2019
Saints Veterans Report: July 25, 2019
First padded practice: July 27, 2019 (per Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com)
Training camp practices will be held in Metairie, LA at the Saints Training Camp Facility. The Saints made the move back to Metairie a couple of years ago after practicing in West Virginia at The Greenbirer since 2013. Since moving back to Metairie, the Saints are a combined 31-17 in the regular season.
Training camp will lead up to the first of the Saints’ four preseason exhibition games which kicks off August 9th in New Orleans against the Minnesota Vikings. The team will then travel to California to hold joint practices again with the Los Angeles Chargers in Costa Mesa, CA August 15th and 16th ahead of their game at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA. The stadium was renamed from “StubHub Center” this offseason.
Though the Saints are pretty well settled for their starters going into 2019, there will be lots of competition for depth and special teams positions throughout training camp. Those battles as well as the progress of the rookie class, both drafted and undrafted, and new additions such as Jared Cook and Latavius Murray add to the excitement already felt by the Who Dat Nation. Some of these training camp practices will be open to the public. Follow us on Twitter @AllSaintsBlog to be notified when those dates are released.
