The NFL season is around the corner, with only a preseason game and a week in it’s way. But, before the season can start all 32 teams have to trim their roster down from 90 players to 53. It’s that time of the year that all coaches and players alike dread, that time of the year that any knock on the door could mean the end of a childhood dream. Unfortunately, 37 players are going to be asked to return their playbooks and move on to next chapter in their life. Some of the players will return to the team on the practice squad, others may get an invite to join another team, and a team loaded with as much talent as the Saints have that would be no surprise. Every year there is the shocking cut of a player no one saw coming and the long shot player no one gave a chance a month ago making the team. There’s no way of knowing of what is going through the mind of Coach Payton or what he is planning to do, but trying to guess is one of things that makes this exercise fun. So without further ado I give to you my Saints final roster prediction.
QBs (3): Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgewater, Taysom Hill.
RBs (4): Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray, Zach Line, Dwayne Washington.
WRs (7): Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn Jr, Tre’Quan Smith, Austin Carr, Keith Kirkwood, Deonte Harris, Emmanuel Butler.
TEs (3): Jared Cook, Josh Hill, Dan Arnold.
OL (8): Terron Armstead, Ryan Ramcyzk, Andrus Peat, Larry Warford, Erik McCoy, Michael Ola, Will Clapp, Cameron Tom.
DL (10): Sheldon Rankins, Cam Jordan, Marcus Davenport, David Onyemata, Malcom Brown, Mario Edwards, Trey Hendrickson, Taylor Stallworth, Sylvester Williams.
LBs (6): Alex Anzalone, Demario Davis, AJ Klein, Craig Robertson, Kaden Elliss, Vince Biegel.
DBs (9): Marshon Lattimore, Eli Apple, Marcus Williams, Vonn Bell, PJ Williams, Patrick Robinson, Justin Hardee, Chris Banjo, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.
ST (3): Wil Lutz, Thomas Morstead, Zach Wood.
Most of the roster has already been set, and the rest of it will be determined by the play in the final preseason game. The depth on the offensive line is one of the areas the team will probably look into improving as no one has really stood out there yet. Some of the notable players that could be cut or on the bubble are: OL Nick Easton, S Saquan Hampton, DL Ziggy Hood, RB Devine Ozigbo, and TE’s Alize Mack and AJ Derby. WHODAT!!!
