Saints 2018 Achilles Heel Fixed Just In Time: Backup QB

The only glaring weakness of the 2018 Saints squad was remedied last week when New Orleans acquired Teddy Bridgewater in a trade from the New York Jets. Back up quarterback, one who can win during a good stretch, is something only a precious few teams have. The Eagles last year proved how valuable and rare it is that the number two signal caller could get it done and win a Lombardi trophy. Teddy Bridgewater may be a better quarterback than Nick Foles, either way they are both solid. In case of emergency break glass, well Teddy “Two Gloves” is the Saints’ version of a contingency plan.

Look at the other teams set for a Super Bowl outside of the Eagles. The Rams, Green Bay, Atlanta, New England, Pittsburgh, Minnesota even San Diego all have no shot at the big prize without their starting QB. The Saints and Eagles can still reach all team goals with their respective backups. Now I hope Brees is healthy all season but if something unexpected happens the dream won’t just die. The other part is the future of the team and if they sign Bridgewater long term he would fill that position competently I have no doubt.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, and with the only real weakness fixed the are no excuses for this team even if the sky falls. I want the Saints to be at full strength and beat teams with a full complement of players also, if not ,I see no reason the 2018 Saints team can’t be victorious come February.
