Reason for Optimism? Taking a Look at the Next Four Games

As week 5 of the NFL concludes on Monday night the Saints had the week off with a much needed bye week. Getting key players back from injuries guys such as Terron Armstead, Willie Snead, and Sterling Moore back from injuries is just what the Saints need for a challenging 4 game stretch. The Saints will host the Lions this week, following a trip to Green Bay, then back to back games between the Chicago Bears and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now realistically this should favor the Saints with Matthew Stafford suffering injuries to his ankle and quad, this could be a problem for Stafford as he goes against a young hungry Saints pass rush led by players like Cam Jordan and Hau’oli Kikaha. This game ultimately come down to Drew Brees and this Saint offense doing enough to beat this stout Lions defense and keeping Stafford and his offense off the field especially in the 4th quarter, my prediction Saints win 27- 17.

Taking a look at the next game this will be a dozy as Drew Brees will face off against Aaron Rodgers and the packers. Usually whenever these quarterbacks play the points come at ease the game plan should be real simple after watching the Dallas game. Don’t give Rodgers the ball in the 4th quarter with anytime left however with Rodgers on fire this young Saints defense comes back to earth and my final score is 34-24 Green Bay( AP will score his first TD of the season). However the good news is after playing Aaron Rodgers is the Saints go back to home and will play Mitchell Trubisky and a very poor Bears offense. A rookie Quarterback with a poor supporting cast and very questionable defense this is just the kind of confidence boost the Saints offense and defense needs Saints win 38-16.

The last game I was torn between, because while yes the Buccaneers have struggled on offense and defense however this is a division game, and these games are always unpredictable. I feel like this will be the game were the Saints rushing game takes over between Ingram, Kamara, and yes Adrian Peterson my final score 28-20 Saints win. So in this 4 game stretch I have the Saints going 3-1 which would bring their record to 5-3 at the half way point which is something any Saint fan would love to see happen.
