The question of if Drew Brees should sit out until after the bye, or start today’s game was answered quite convincingly. Drew Brees returned to action in quite heroic fashion as he threw for 373 yards and 3 TDs leading the Saints to their 6th straight victory, defeating the Cardinals 31-9. Both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball found success today as the offense went for over 500 yards and the defense held the Cardinals under 250 total yards.
The team leaders on offense were Michael Thomas, Latavius Murray, and Drew Brees. Michael Thomas had 11 receptions for 121 yards and 1 TD, but for Michael Thomas it was just another average day at the office. Latavius Murray showed yet again he is capable of filling in for Alvin Kamara, as Murray rushed for 102 yards 1 TD 55 yards receiving 1 TD. Once Brees shook the rust off he quickly got the offense moving, and showing no signs of any injury. Today’s game was all thumbs up for Brees.
The Saints head into their bye week full of confidence in what they have accomplished the first half of the season. When they return to action it will be against an ailing Atlanta Falcons team that heading in the wrong direction. It’s possible the Falcons may have a new coach by the time they play the Saints. It’s an exciting time to be a Saint’s fan and a part of the Who Dat Nation. With the return of a healthy Brees, and the defense playing as one of the best in the league, it’s impossible not to think this team is Super Bowl bound.
