Fresh Takes: Thomas Coming to the Top 5

The NFL is becoming a passing league with multiple quarterbacks throwing well over 500 attempts every year. Having multiple pass catchers is important to every team yet many don’t have a true number 1 receiver. Those that do understand why it helps to have that one guy you can rely on and go to when the time comes to get that one play you need to determine the outcome of the game. The Saints drafted theirs not in 2014 but in 2016 and his name was Michael Thomas.

Michael Thomas’ ability last season, as a rookie was absolutely astonishing and he showed it from day 1 in training camp. He immediately became a looming presence in the New Orleans Saints offense in 2016. He went on to have one of the greatest rookie seasons in NFL history. Thomas ended his rookie campaign with 92 receptions for 1,137 yards and 9 touchdowns; all of this while playing in 15 games. The New Orleans Saints have found their number one wide receiver in Michael Thomas and a new perennial top 5 fantasy finisher. Move over AJ Green, Mike Thomas is coming for your perch. In the same division you have Julio Jones AND Mike Evans. Can you imagine playing in a division with three top 5 wide receivers?! Well, I’m here to tell you it will be that way starting in 2017. Whether it be Thomas’ red zone presence, his route running, or his ability to create separation, Michael Thomas is a straight up beast. Thomas has already become the ultimate threat for the New Orleans Saints and forcing even more defenders to wish they never tried to guard him. The top 5 in both fantasy and real life in my opinion look a little different than most but mark my words, I am not wrong. Julio Jones, followed by Odell Beckham Jr, then Mike Evans, Antonio Brown and last but most certainly not least, @cantguardmike and my favorite receiver in the NFL, Michael Thomas.

My prediction: 97 catches, 1217 yards and 11 touchdowns
