The New Orleans Saints shocked the NFL by acquiring on of the teams biggest needs in wide receiver, the news has broke that Emmanuel Sanders signed to the Saints. New Orleans dropped the news at night that Mickey Loomis was able to reel in Emmanuel Sanders. He played a role as a number one receiver for the 49ers last year in there trip to the Superbowl.
The New Orleans Saints were severely in need of help at the wide receiver position. Emmanuel Sanders signs and now brings deep speed, route running at all levels, leadership, and #1 receiver capability to the #2 receiver spot across from the league’s best in Michael Thomas.
Last season with the 49ers, Sanders brought in 66 catches for 869 yards and five touchdowns. The combination of Sanders and Thomas will give Brees a dynamic duo at WR like we’ve not seen in New Orleans for some time.
Before being traded to the 49ers from the Broncos last year, the Southern Methodist University product was was seen jabbering back and forth with a young up-and-coming receiver in Cortland Sutton, pushing him to be better. It displayed how his leadership worked after seeing how Sutton had a breakout season. His deal with the Saints is for 2 years, $16 mil. With the potential to earn up to $19 mil total.
Now that Emmanuel Sanders signed to the team we will see if this is the help New Orleans has been waiting for.
