Well, the Bucs draft didn’t go quite as expected. Sitting pretty at pick number seven with a very loud interest in NC State EDGE player Bradley Chubb.
When the Denver Broncos went on the clock, they had an unexpected option at number five in Bradley Chubb who the Cleveland Browns were expect to pick. The Broncos then called off the trade they had in place with the Buffalo Bills and opted for Chubb as opposed to selecting a quarterback. After the Broncos called off the trade with Buffalo, they called up Tampa Bay and shipped off their 12th overall pick and two second rounders to get into the top ten so they could select Josh Allen out of Wyoming.
The the 12th pick Tampa Bay received from Buffalo, they selected Washington DT Vita Vea. Passing on LB Tremaine Edmunds and DB Derwin James. Vea is nothing to shake a stick at and will draw focus from our offensive line. But he’ll have to work hard along side JPP to get through our offensive line and he’ll quickly be erased in the interior when out running game kicks into its next gear.
Vea finished his career in Washington with 99 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and 15 tackles for a loss.

In passing on an option like Derwin James, the Tampa Bay secondary remains very weak and very prone to the Saints attack with Drew Brees and all of his weapons. If I was going to grade this pick in terms of how much it affects us out of ten, I’d give it a 6/10. He’s someone that we have to be aware of, but also someone that we can neutralize with tfe spread and reach of our explosive offense.
